About Us

Shoreline Community Services is a 501(c)3 nonprofit developed to enrich and grow the services to the homeless and underprivileged offered in Pacific Beach, a community in San Diego, CA.  In partnership with Pacific Beach United Methodist and UCSD, Shoreline currently coordinates a free meal and supports a free medical, dental and acupuncture clinic every Wednesday evening.  The meal begins at 5:30pm and is part of a larger effort with several organizations in the community of Pacific Beach to ensure at least one meal a day is offered to whoever might need it.

We believe that these services to the homeless and underserved benefit everyone in the neighborhood. As we feed those who are hungry, or simply benefit from the fellowship and the small relief to their food budget, and connect them to services they would have to travel hours to obtain otherwise we are helping to uplift our local governments in their efforts to ease the burdens of their citizens who experience the most need and improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods by providing a safe place for people in need to gather and a safe place for our neighbors to offer their help and support.

This effort follows in the footsteps of many incredible people.  Originally this service started with a few dedicated members of the Pacific Beach United Methodist Church who arranged for pizzas to be donated for a meal for the homeless. As it grew, a 501(c)3 organization was formed to coordinate and grow the services offered.  A prepared meal was then established and was eventually run by a different volunteer group each week.  This 501(c)3 worked along side UCSD to welcome a partnership offering a free student-run medical clinic which has grown into the medical, dental and acupuncture clinic that is offered today. The program’s success is a beautiful statement of the time, energy and dedication offered by this group.

With continued growth and transition, Shoreline Community Services works to enrich and grow the services and opportunities for increased dignity and self-sufficiency that this church and its partners have so lovingly developed and sustained for more than 20 years.
